Goals and a Rose

Last week's goal list:

1. Set up website on squarespace.com. I decided to try bigblackbag.com instead, thanks to a tip from my new friend, Jo. I did start my home page, but want to use different photos.

2. Update social networking sites (blog, facebook, twitter) about the process. Since I didn't do much work on my website, I really had nothing to write about. I did continue to use facebook and twitter to support and encourage my fellow artists.

3. Continue to develop brand. Hmm, I have had this on my mind for a bit. I did ask my husband how he would describe my baskets. His reply? "Traditional, with a modern twist." I like that!

3. Continue to develop lines of inventory. I did make some new baskets, two with a new design. I will upload photos of them soon.

4. Work on pricing strategy. I began work on this last night. There is a lot to consider, and I want to be conscious of the time and effort I am putting into the construction of my baskets.

So for this week, I hope to get at least the bare bones version of my website up and running. I decided to break this goal out into smaller steps:

1. Take photos for the home page.
2. Write my bio for an "About Me" page.
3. Link my website to my blog.
4. Develop my home page with photos and logo.
5. Make my own logo in Illustrator. This could be tricky, but I am going to give it a try.
6. Develop my tagline. I want it to declare my intentions for my creations.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, creative and playful week!

My Mardi Gras rose. Such a beauty!

You are working hard already ... I like the conversational (tone) voice of your list ... it's less threating ...

I had not heard of bigblackbag.com before-will store in my files for when I make the website leap. Are you considering doing any farmer's markets/craft fairs over the summer?

I love this Melissa. Its so much more that just a list: its reflective, honest and evaluative as you progress towards achieving your goals.
This is such a precious time for some of us, as we slowly forge out our unique identity. It requires so much thought and contemplation sometimes, which is hard when we are often in the midst of other pressures and the busy-ness of life. I admire the fact that you are still managing to create too - something I've barely managed the past few weeks. I am sooooo excited to see how your ideas evolve and become reality.
Gorgeous Mardi Gras rose, btw - the rich colours are divine!

I need to do a list a bit more like this I think! I have just bought a domain name for 3 years. kind of by accident. although... I just think 3 years was excessive. SO I have got to make use of it now. Am going to be hopefully building a site using wordpress!

What a great set of goals. I am in the process of deciding whether I want to start a facebook fan page or just keep my personal facebook page. Great to see you again this week!

Oh yeees!!! Go for it, girl!! I'm sure those baby steps will help you tremendously.
Love the way your hubby described your baskets!
I'd like to join the Flying Lessons FB group, but I'm not sure it will be good for me just to have another thing to keep track of... a FB page!
Hugs,
Monicax.
P.S Glad you liked my quilt!;)

Well done on your blog badge! I did it too yesterday for the Celebrating Each Step space I have started on my blog. Aren't we clever!

I am a firm believer in "writing it down" amazing things begin to happen. And in your case, it is already happening.

I think you work is so beautiful - my grandmother taught me to knit & crochet as well. It is a craft that is very near to my heart.

one more thing..

I have been using Big Black Bag for close to a year, and I really love it! I think it is perfect for us creative thinkers.

Also, if you need any help with Illustrator, let me know.
